Applications
The cemented tungsten carbide backing allows DBC50 and DBA80 to
be used as a brazeable insert in tools for machining hard ferrous
materials (45-65HRC). Both can also be used as clamp-type,
full-faced inserts.
DBA80, like AMBORITE, works by
self-induced hot-cutting, which causes the workpiece material to
soften within the immediate chip generation zone. the heat generated
is discharged through the chips as well as through the relatively
highly conductive DBA80 insert, leaving the hardness of the
workpiece unaffected.
DBC50 is ideal for the production of
high-quality cutting edges. Chip softening, though still important,
is less of a feature than with higher cBN-content materials and
takes place at much lower energy levels.
