Introduction
Announcing the introduction of a new product to its range of PCBN cutting tool materials - AMBORITE DBN45.

 

AMBORITE DBN45 is a low content cBN material with a sub-micron grain size integrally bonded with a titanium nitride (TiN) ceramic binder onto a tungsten carbide base. This new product complements the exsisiting PCBN product range and can be used in applications such as finish machining of hardened ferrous materials (45-65HRc).

Current and new machining applications place more and more demands on cutting tool materials. AMBORITE DBN45 meets these challenges. The sub-micron cBN particles coupled with the TiN binder used in AMBORITE DBN45 permits improved edge quality and edge toughness, which results in excellent workpiece accuracy and surface finish.

Applications
The two bar charts (below) illustrate the important factors for a cutting tool in application - abrasion resistance and product toughness.

The abrasion resistance can be seen to be very close to the bench mark product for abrasion resistance - AMBORITE DBC50.

AMBORITE DBN45 has increased toughness compared with AMBORITE DBC50, which makes it more suitable for applications which involve aggresive interrupted cuts or where machine stability may not be optimum.

Availability
AMBORITE DBN45 is available in the sizes outlined in the table below.

Products can also be cut to customer specific requirements.
