| In
February 1996 the SDB 1000 Series of synthetic saw diamond abrasives
was launched. SDB 1000 Series diamond abrasives are
manufactured by a new synthesis process utilizing
nickel based alloys rather than the cobalt-based alloys used
in classic SDA synthesis. The cubo-octahedral crystals which
are typical of the SDB 1000 Series display a characteristic
structure, which in turn, is considered to influence wear
behavior by affecting the manner in which the particles
break down in applications. |

|
| This process, in particular,
yields crystals with fine metal inclusions distributed
throughout the particle, resulting in excellent cosmetic
appearance and high thermal stability. The SDB 1000 Series
has now been further enhanced by the introduction of the Saw Grit Indicator System, which assists the toolmaker
in optimizing grit selection for the appropriate
application. Within this Series, a range of products with
varying properties is offered, giving the user a choice from
which to manufacture a complete range of diamond tools which
can be used for a wide variety of applications. |
